Description

Cancidas (Caspofongin) is an antifungal agent. It is typically used to treat fungal infections of the stomach, lungs, esophagus (muscular tube that conveys food from the mouth to the stomach), or other internal body areas. It may also have other uses.

Cancidas (Caspofongin)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Cancidas (Caspofongin) to you in a hospital or clinical setting.

WARNING: Anaphylaxis has been reported during administration of CANCIDAS. If this occurs, CANCIDAS should be discontinued and appropriate treatment administered. Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment (liver dysfunction). Dosage reduction may be necessary in adults with moderate impairment.

In addition to its desired action, Cancidas (Caspofongin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause hypotension (decreased blood pressure), headache, chills, respiratory failure.
It may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, rash, liver problems.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to caspofungin or any component of the formulation.

Taking Cancidas (Caspofongin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
