Description

Gazyva (Obinutuzumab) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used to treat certain types of blood cancer. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Gazyva (Obinutuzumab)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Gazyva (Obinutuzumab) to you in a hospital or clinical setting.

WARNING: If you have had hepatitis B (liver disease caused by a virus) before or carry the virus, this drug can cause the virus to become active. This can lead to very bad and sometimes deadly liver problems. You will be tested for hepatitis B before starting this drug. You will need to watch for signs of hepatitis while taking this drug and for several months after stopping it. Discontinue obinutuzumab if viral hepatitis develops and initiate appropriate antiviral therapy. 

In addition to its desired action, Gazyva (Obinutuzumab) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause constipation, diarrhea, hair loss, headache, skin rash.
It may cause nausea, vomiting, hyperkalemia (a higher than normal level of potassium in the blood), hyperuricemia (a higher than normal level of uric acid in the blood).

Contraindications: Known hypersensitivity reactions to obinutuzumab or any component of the formulation.

Taking Gazyva (Obinutuzumab) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. 

A treatment with Gazyva (Obinutuzumab) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Gazyva (Obinutuzumab)
