Description
Podofilm (Podophyllin) is a topical skin agent. It is typically used to remove benign (non-cancerous) growths, such as certain kinds of warts (abnormal growths on the skin). It may also have other uses.

Podofilm (Podophyllin)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. To be applied by medical professional only, cleanse and dry affected area prior to application. Shake well prior to use. Use applicator provided with product to apply sparingly to lesions, avoid contact with healthy tissue, allow to dry thoroughly. When applying for the first time, leave on for only 30 to 40 minutes to determine patient sensitivity. After first use, may leave on 1 to 4 hours depending on severity of lesion. WARNING: Use of large amounts of drug should be avoided. For external use only, avoid contact with the eyes as it can cause severe damage. In addition to its desired action, Podofilm (Podophyllin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause very bad skin irritation, very bad pain, swelling, or bleeding where treated. It may cause a burning, numbness, fever and chills. Contraindications: Not to be used on bleeding warts, birthmarks, moles, or warts with hair growth, not to be used by patients with diabetes (high blood sugar level) or poor circulation, concurrent use of steroids, pregnancy, breastfeeding. Taking Podofilm (Podophyllin) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Podofilm (Podophyllin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Podofilm (Podophyllin)
