Description
PregVit Prenatal Postpartum (Multivitamin) is a combination of prenatal (before birth) and postpartum (after birth) vitamins and minerals. It is typically used by women planning to become pregnant, who are pregnant and who have recently had a baby as it has specific amounts of various nutrients necessary to support the nutritional needs of women during and immediately after pregnancy. It may also have other uses.
Additional information
PregVit Prenatal Postpartum (Multivitamin) is typically given as 1 pink tablet in the morning and 1 blue/dark blue tablet at least 4 hours afterward or in the evening. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. The pink tablets and the blue tablets must be taken separately to prevent the ingredients in one tablet from interacting with the other. The pink tablets should be taken on an empty stomach with a full glass of water. Wait at least one hour before eating, to allow time for the iron to be absorbed. The blue tablet should be taken within an hour of the evening meal. Swallow the medication whole, with a glass of water. Do not crush or split the tablets. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Many medications are affected by the calcium and iron in these multiple vitamins. Check with your pharmacist for specific instructions about separating your regular medications and this multiple vitamin and mineral supplement. People who have seizure disorder and are taking antiseizure medications (e.g., carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone, valproic acid) may have an increase in seizures when taking folic acid (one of the vitamins in PregVit Prenatal Postpartum (Multivitamin)). High doses of folic acid may hide symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency. In addition to its desired action, PregVit Prenatal Postpartum (Multivitamin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause constipation, decreased appetite, diarrhea, nausea, or upset stomach. It may cause fatigue, or headache. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any vitamin or mineral present in this formulation, or any ingredients of the medication. Adequate and well-controlled studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy (and there is no evidence of risk in later trimesters). If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with PregVit Prenatal Postpartum (Multivitamin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.PregVit Prenatal Postpartum (Multivitamin)
