Stribild (Cobicistat Elvitegravir Emtricitabine Tenofovir) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with food.
WARNING: Use with caution in patients with kidney problems. Use with caution in patient with heart problems. Not indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (HBV, an inflammation of the liver). Closely monitor liver function with clinical and laboratory follow-up for at least several months in patients who are coinfected with HIV and HBV and discontinue this therapy. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. This product is not intended to be used in combination with any other product.
In addition to its desired action, Stribild (Cobicistat Elvitegravir Emtricitabine Tenofovir) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause depression, headache and insomnia (lack of sleep)
It may cause abnormal dreams, dizziness, bone fracture, drowsiness and skin rash.
It may cause nausea, diarrhea, proteinuria (increased levels of protein in the urine)
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to elvitegravir, cobicistat, emtricitabine, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, or any component of the formulation, coadministration with apixaban, astemizole, ergonovine, rivaroxaban, salmeterol, or terfenadine. Coadministration with alfuzosin, carbamazepine, cisapride, ergot derivatives (e.g., dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, methylergonovine), lomitapide, lovastatin, lurasidone, midazolam (oral), phenobarbital, phenytoin, pimozide, rifampin, sildenafil (for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension), simvastatin or triazolam.
Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
