Description
Tafinlar (Dabrafenib) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used alone or in combination with other medications to treat melanoma (skin cancer) that cannot be treated with surgery or has spread to other parts of the body. It may also have other uses.

Tafinlar (Dabrafenib) is usually taken twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist might recommend a different schedule that better suits you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or take it more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take this medication at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, with doses approximately 12 hours apart. WARNING: Using Tafinlar (Dabrafenib) with Mekinist (another anticancer drug) may increase your risk of developing a specific type of skin cancer. Tell your doctor if you notice any new skin symptoms. When taken together, they can cause serious bleeding problems, including in your brain, stomach, or bowel, which can be fatal. Call your doctor and seek medical help immediately if you notice any signs of bleeding, such as headaches, dizziness, weakness, coughing up blood or blood clots, or vomiting blood or material that looks like “coffee grounds.” In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause alopecia (hair loss), dry skin, skin rash, constipation, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It may cause hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), headache, back pain, cough, joint pain, and muscle pain. It may cause fever, low levels of sodium in the blood, and dizziness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to dabrafenib or any component of the formulation. Taking this medication during pregnancy could harm the baby. Women who can become pregnant should use effective contraception. Pregnant women should avoid using this product. If you're planning to get pregnant, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, contact your primary care provider. A treatment with this medication requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.
