Description
Tazorac (Tazarotene) is an anti-acne agent. It is typically used for the treatment of acne vulgaris (a common chronic skin disease involving blockage and/or inflammation of pilosebaceous units (hair follicles and their accompanying sebaceous gland)) and psoriasis (a chronic skin disease characterized by circumscribed red patches covered with white scales). It may also have other uses.

Tazorac (Tazarotene) is typically applied once daily in the evening to the affected area. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. For topical use only, not for oral, ophthalmic (eye), or intravaginal use. Avoid eyes, mouth, paranasal creases, or other mucous membranes, rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs. Do not cover treated areas with dressings or bandages. Do not apply to eczematous (an inflammatory condition of the skin characterized by redness, itching, and oozing vesicular lesions which become scaly, crusted, or hardened), abraded, broken, or sunburned skin. Use effective sunscreen and wear protective clothing during treatment. Wash hands after use. WARNING: May cause photosensitivity (a condition in which the skin becomes very sensitive to sunlight or other forms of ultraviolet light and may burn easily), exposure to ultraviolet rays (including sunlight/sun lamps) should be avoided. In addition to its desired action, Tazorac (Tazarotene) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause stinging and/or itching It may cause a burning sensation It can cause dryness of the skin. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to tazarotene or any component of the formulation, women who are or may become pregnant Taking Tazorac (Tazarotene) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Tazorac (Tazarotene) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
