Description

Tri Jordyna 28 (Norgestimate Ethinyl Estradiol) is an oral contraceptive (birth control pill) agent. It is an estrogen (ethinyl estradiol) and progestin (norgestimate) combination pill used to prevent pregnancy. It may also be used for the treatment of acne. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Tri Jordyna 28 (Norgestimate Ethinyl Estradiol) is typically taken as one dose daily without interruption (one active pill (with hormones) once daily for 21 days in a row, then an inactive pill once daily for 7 days in a row). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. Administer at the same time each day at intervals not >24 hours with or without food. Combined hormonal contraceptives may be initiated at anytime during the menstrual cycle if it is reasonably sure the patient is not pregnant. Back-up contraception should be used for 7 days unless contraception is initiated within the first 5 days of menstrual bleeding or the patient abstains from sexual intercourse.
WARNING: Consider alternative contraception for patients with uncontrolled dyslipidemia (elevated blood cholesterol). Combination hormonal contraceptives may also increase the risk of arterial thrombosis (e.g., heart attacks, stroke) and should not be used in patients with a history of stroke or ischemic heart disease (heart problems caused by narrowed heart arteries)
In addition to its desired action, Tri Jordyna 28 (Norgestimate Ethinyl Estradiol) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause headaches, migraine, nausea, vomiting, breakthrough bleeding It may cause nipple pain, depression, mood changes, mood disorder, nervousness It may cause acne, menstrual disease, weight changes, abdominal pain It may cause breast cyst, breast hypertrophy (overgrowth of breast), breast swelling, breast tenderness (pain), mastalgia (breast pain), nipple discharge, dysmenorrhea (discomfort and pain during the menstrual period), vaginal infection, genital discharge Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the drug or any component of the formulation. Breast cancer or other estrogen- or progestin-dependent cancer (current or a history of), liver tumors (benign or malignant) or liver disease, pregnancy, undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding, concomitant use of hepatitis C drug combinations containing ombitasvir/ritonavir, with or without dasabuvir. Use is also contraindicated in patients at high risk of arterial or venous thrombotic diseases (clots in the veins and arteries) for example, patients with: coronary artery disease (chest pain or discomfort and shortness of breath), diabetes mellitus with vascular disease (blood vessels disease), uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure), patients >35 years of age who smoke.
Taking Tri Jordyna 28 (Norgestimate Ethinyl Estradiol) during pregnancy is harmful for the baby. Combination hormonal contraceptives are used to prevent pregnancy, treatment should be discontinued if pregnancy occurs. Pregnant women should not use this product.
