Description

Trosec (Trospium) is an antispasmodic agent. It is typically used to to relieve symptoms associated with an overactive bladder (a frequent and sudden urge to urinate that may be difficulty to control), such as urinary urgency (a need to urinate right away) and nocturia (a condition that causes you to wake up during the night to urinate). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Trosec  (Trospium) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. TROSEC should be dosed at least one hour before meals or given on an empty stomach.
WARNING: Use with caution in patients with bladder flow obstruction (a blockage that slows or stops urine flow out of the bladder). Use with caution in patients with gastrointestinal obstructive disorders (a blockage that keeps food or liquid from passing through your small intestine or large intestine). Use with caution in patients with moderate or severe liver impairment. Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment. Use with caution in patients with controlled narrow-angle glaucoma (a condition of raised fluid pressure within the eye).
In addition to its desired action, Trosec  (Trospium) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause tachycardia (rapid heart action), headache, fatigue, skin rash, dry mouth.
It may cause constipation, abdominal pain, vomiting, urinary tract infection.
Contraindications: if you are allergic to trospium or to any ingredients of the medication, if you have or are at risk for gastric retention (delayed emptying of the stomach), if you have or are at risk for uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma (a condition of raised fluid pressure within the eye), if you have or are at risk for urinary retention (an inability to empty the bladder)
Taking Trosec  (Trospium) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Trosec  (Trospium) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
